Case brief

Situation

Corvane SA (fictitious entity), an industrial group, closes its accounts on 31 December 20X6 under IAS 1. The audit committee asks for a transition note on IFRS 18: application date, classification of the IAS 1 requirements (transferred, unchanged, modified), departure proposal from management, capital disclosure and preparation of the 20X6 comparative under the new presentation. IAS 1 remains the standard applicable to the 20X6 financial statements.

Your assignment

State from when IFRS 18 replaces IAS 1 and what this implies for the 20X6 statements; classify the 9 areas of IAS 1 requirements (transferred to IAS 8, carried over without structural change, modified); judge the departure proposal; say what the status of the April 2026 agenda decision is; judge the accounting policy information and prepare the capital disclosure; record the reclassification for the IFRS 18 view of the comparative; present the links with the other standards and the effect of the entry; conclude.

Work on this file as you would in practice: read the situation, open the documents, sort the useful information, then carry out the work requested. The solution is revealed once you submit.
