Case brief

Situation

Montrel SA (fictitious entity) publishes several measures in its 20X7 earnings release. It prepares its statements under IFRS 18. You identify the management-defined performance measures, reconcile the one that is such a measure to the most directly comparable specified subtotal, compute the income tax effect and the effect on non-controlling interests of each item and correct on the way a classification found during the reconciliation.

Your assignment

Among the 5 measures of the release, say which are management-defined performance measures; say why operating profit is not one; record the reclassification detected; compute the measure "adjusted operating profit" and the net effect of tax and non-controlling interests of the two reconciling items; describe the information to give in the note and its objective; present the effect of the entry on the financial statements; conclude.

Work on this file as you would in practice: read the situation, open the documents, sort the useful information, then carry out the work requested. The solution is revealed once you submit.
