IFRS 2Chapter 3Lesson 2

Parties other than employees and the estimation of fair value

Step 1 of 6Learning objectives

Go deeper+1 deeper insight · +1 point of attention

For parties other than employees, it is presumed that the fair value of the goods or services received can be estimated reliably; the fair value of the instruments granted rests, as the case may be, on a market price or on a model whose inputs involve judgement.

Learning objectives

  • Explain the rebuttable presumption that the fair value of goods or services received can be estimated reliably, and the associated measurement date.
  • Distinguish rebuttal of the presumption from the case where the goods or services received are not identifiable.
  • Explain the usual inputs of an option valuation model and their nature as judgements, never as values imposed by the standard.
