IFRS 2Chapter 8Lesson 1

Group transactions: each entity assesses its own rights and obligations

Step 1 of 4Learning objectives

Go deeper+2 deeper insights · +1 calculation · +1 point of attention

In a group, the entity receiving the services classifies the award from its own position, not from the group's; when the parent grants its shares to a subsidiary's employees, it is the parent that has the obligation to deliver them.

Learning objectives

  • Recall that the classification of an award depends on what the entity itself must deliver.
  • Determine the classification of a group award in the financial statements of the entity that receives the services.
  • Analyse who bears the obligation to deliver the instruments when the parent grants its shares to a subsidiary's employees.
